Orange st volunteers visit Oxfam warehouse in Portishead.
Orange st studio's have joined forces with Oxfam to work on an exciting new fashion project. Oxfam are donating vintage, costume and unsellable clothing for the Vintage Fashion Favours project in order for them to design and make new fashion pieces that will be exhibited in a high profile fashion show in the New Year.
Staff members and volunteers visited Oxfam's warehouse recently to discuss this exciting new project and also had fun scouting through the rails of vintage clothing to find inspiration and garments to use in their new outfits.
Orange Street and the BBC on College Green
Staff members and volunteers from Orange Street Creative Studios recently met up with the organisers of the “Portents” outdoor art installation project.
The project will see the transformation of one of Bristol’s most famous public spaces into an extraordinary ‘tent city’.
For a period of 10 days from Saturday September 18th – Sunday September 26th, over fifty tents, printed with artwork by the people of Bristol will stand in College Green as a united testament to the diversity of the population of the city.
The theme of this project is ‘Home, Histories and Hope’ and with one or all of these words in mind during the month of August, we will be looking for volunteers to help develop this project.

Fairbridge Taster Day
Volunteers From Fairbridge enjoyed themselves on the pottery and textile project.
Alan and Des made some questionable fashion accessories, while Yas and Carmen made beautiful felt flowers.
Pottery Volunteers
Volunteers from the pottery recently went to Shire Link Day Centre in Southmead. Volunteers were given the opportunity to support adults with learning disabilities and use their skills to assist the service users with decorating the ceramics created by the volunteers. This was great experience in working with different members of the community and helping in making a fun activity. The session was a great success and the service users had lots of fun!
Pottery Awards
Congratulations!
Congratulations to all the pottery volunteers for earning their v50 awards!
Orange Street would also like to say a massive thank you to the pottery volunteers for all their hard work and dedication to the ‘Play with Clay’ project.
The volunteers have created a spectacular collection of ceramic work for Orange Street to take out into our community art projects and sell at local arts fairs. So far the collection has raised over £150 towards the next community project!
Thank you!

May Day at Redland Fair
Bank holiday Monday saw the ceramics volunteers selling their wares at Redland Fair.
The fair is the first of Bristol’s local festivals and for many marks the start of a busy festive summer.
Our “Play with Clay” project has been running for two months now and the volunteers had the chance to meet the public, sell their pots and market the vinvolved project.
Most of the ‘pots’ were produced during the training phase of the project and were sold to raise money for more equipment and materials. We had a great day and sold lots of goodies including jugs, mugs, flower pots, broaches and fridge magnets.
Thanks to everybody involved.
